Former American Soybean Association CEO Steve Censky was sworn in Tuesday as U.S. Deputy Secretary of Agriculture. American Soybean Association President Ron Moore says his group is pleased with Censky’s confirmation and says the next priority his group has is for the Senate to move ahead with other needed confirmations for USDA positions.

He says ASA’s next priorities with Censky in place as Deputy Ag Secretary is to get trade issues resolved and the new farm bill approved and in place.

Moore says the top priority for the new farm bill is making sure there’s a solid crop insurance program in place.

Moore is pleased that both Censky as Deputy Ag Secretary and Ted McKinney as Under Secretary for Trade have now been confirmed. He’s hoping that the rest of the USDA nominees receive full confirmation soon.
