ASA President Notes Following Trade Review With China, Some Concerns Remain

The Biden administration unveiled its months long review of the U.S. trade agreement with China and how it will proceed going forward. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley expressed fears the Biden administration is throwing in the towel on the phase 2 part of the trade deal with CHINA. American Soybean Association President and South Dakota farmer Kevin Scott says he understands that concern.

He says the U.S. took a harsh stance with China during the Trump administration which caused some disruptions for farmers although that stance seemed to work.

Scott says it’s encouraging the President is moving ahead with his Trade Ambassador pushing for more trade with China and fixing what didn’t work in the past.

Scott says its positive President Biden is starting to get his trade people in place to move forward trade deals and discussions with not only China but with other potential trading partners.
