ASA President Not Sure Restarting Trade Talks With China Would Be Positive

A coalition of U.S. business groups want the White House to restart trade talks with China. American Soybean Association President Kevin Scott says it’s been difficult developing a smooth trade relationship with China and it’s a good question as to whether restarting discussions would be helpful or harmful.

He says for soybean growers, trade continues to work well as China is continuing its purchase of U.S. soybeans.

Scott says he’d hate to see a reversal of trade gains made with the Chinese as far as any restarting of talks.

Scott says it would be a good start to have China live up to its Phase one Trade Deal with U.S. and move forward with continued phases following that.
