Several U.S. agriculture groups are wanting President Trump to come up with some way forward for a resolution to the trade war with China when he meets with their President at the G-20 summit. American Soybean Association President and Iowa farmer John Heisdorffer says he’d like to at least see the negotiators set some future meetings to work on the problem.
He says trade wars that involve food are a losing proposition for all the countries involved.
Heisdorffer says his group has let President Trump know their concerns over the trade war and he has tried many times to get a meeting with him without success.
China has bought just 339,000 metric tons of U.S. soybeans in the new market year, just 2.5 percent of the 13.3 million metric tons China bought from the U.S. by the same period last year.
