Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue says he’s hoping his aid program for farmers will be released by Labor Day and the harvest season. That’s in response to the current trade war and retaliatory effects on U.S. agriculture. American Soybean Association President John Heisdorffer says he hasn’t seen any details of the plan but notes farmers are already suffering from the trade battle.

He says the U.S. is already losing market share due to the tariff dispute.

Heisdorffer, an Iowa farmer who’s in Brazil this week says our major competitor there is already taking steps to improve getting their product to market and grab our customers.

A 25 percent tariff on U.S. soybeans as part of the trade dispute will take effect next week.
