ASA Pleased EU Producers Want Bio Tech Approval

European food and animal feed producers are asking their Commission to approve eight pending applications for bio tech crops. American Soybean Association President and Iowa farmer Ray Gaesser says his group has been working for E.U. Commission approval for some time and is pleased others from the European Union want that approval as well.
Gaesser agrees with the E.U. food and animal feed producers that Commission approval would avoid serious trade disruptions and legal consequences for their industries and benefit them in a long time.
The E.U. producers also want regulatory biotech crop differences between the E.U. and U.S. to be addressed by a mutual recognition agreement in the Trans Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.
