The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld the Environmental Protection Agency’s order that allows the usage of existing dicamba products. Environmental groups had asked the court to grant an emergency motion throwing out the EPA’s decision but the court denied that. American Soybean Association President Bill Gordon says the court made a common sense decision in allowing usage of those needed herbicides.
He says the original court ruling that threw out three dicamba products limited farmers options for dealing with problem weeds.
Gordon says ASA is continuing to work with the EPA as they will be re registering herbicides in the near future.
Following the Ninth Circuit Court stopping the usage of Extendimax, Engenia and FeXapan, the EPA provided regulatory relief to farmers by letting them use existing stocks of those dicamba products through July 31 of this year.
