A group of label advocates have sent a letter to food manufacturers threatening future boycotts unless gmo products are labeled clearly as gmos. The activists won’t accept QR codes called for in the national biotech labeling law. American Soybean Association Board Director and South Dakota grower Kevin Scott says the activists have a clear agenda and are acting foolishly.

He says the national biotech labeling law that was approved was a good compromise that informs consumers what they’re getting.

Scott says he always wanted to see a label on products that shows how beneficial biotechnology or gmos are.

Scott says had Congress not approved the Biotech or GMO labeling law, consumers would have been more confused by a mish mash of various state laws.
