Senate Agriculture Committee leaders are asking President Obama to press China on prioritizing biotechnology approvals. American Soybean Association Board member and Valley Springs South Dakota farmer Kevin Scott says China needs to move forward quicker on those approvals.
He says delaying those approvals only creates greater costs for both China and the United States in the long run.
Scott says the U.S. soybean industry has been doing a lot of business with China making this regulatory approval issue very critical.
The letter sent to the President says the Chinese government has failed to remain transparent, science based and timely in its regulatory process which impacts farmers and ranchers abilities to access critical markets in China.
