The Senate Agriculture Committee will be holding a hearing next Tuesday for two nominees to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The hearings are for Stephen Censky as Deputy Secretary of Agriculture and Ted McKinney as Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs. American Soybean Association Board member and South Dakota farmer Kevin Scott is hoping for quick confirmation for the two.

He says getting McKinney confirmed is also important as that position needs to be filled given recent uncertainty over trade.

Scott says the Senate needed to get moving earlier on these appointments and the sooner they’re confirmed the better.

The Senate Ag Committee has yet to set a hearing date for the three other USDA appointees including Bill Northey, Greg Ibach and Stephen Vaden.
