American beef trade has been the center of attention for Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue’s trip to China this weekend, however there’s also great opportunity for sales of other U.S. commodities. American Soybean Association Board member Kevin Scott says this trip is a chance to ask the Chinese to lift biotech restrictions on American soybeans.
He says the U.S. couldn’t have a better representative in China than Ag Secretary Perdue as he understands agriculture well and particularly soybeans.
Scott says the Chinese people have a growing appetite for beef and as that grows it presents a great opportunity to sell them more soybeans.
Scott says it’s helpful to have both Secretary Perdue and the new U.S. Ambassador to China, Terry Branstad in that Asian nation representing United States agriculture.
