The National Blue Ribbon Award is one of the most prestigious honors for a school to receive, and several area schools have made the achievements needed to win. Jarod Larson is the Superintendent for Timber Lake Schools in South Dakota, one of the award winners. He says the high school received it, but the whole district can be proud.

Larson says the school has seen success despite its challenges.

Mary Miller is the principal at Randolph Elementary in Nebraska, also a Blue Ribbon Award winner.

She says there are lots of people dedicated to student success.

Four schools in South Dakota, four in Nebraska, and five more in Iowa have been recognized with just 324 other schools across the nation for the level of excellent student performance or large academic improvements needed to win.
