More than half a million FFA members are celebrating National FFA Week. They’ve been participating in activities designed to raise awareness about agriculture and the role FFA makes in developing future leaders. Nebraska State FFA Vice President David Schuler from Bayard, Nebraska says their state officer team has been making chapter visits and sharing the message about FFA with the public.
He says Nebraska’s FFA membership has been and continues to grow, which is a reflection of the growing career opportunities in agriculture.
Schuler says they’re facing a shortage of ag educators and have initiated a statewide recruitment program.
Schuler says FFA chapters use this week to recruit members and give back to their community through service projects.
