USDA Farm Service Agency officials are reminding farmers that the deadline to apply for assistance through the Wildlfire, Hurricane, Indemnity Plus program is Friday October 30. Minnesota State FSA Executive Director Joe Martin says WHIP Plus is for those farmers who’ve experienced crop losses in 2018 and 2019 due to excessive moisture, flooding and tornadoes.
He says WHIP Plus aid is based on a farmers crop insurance coverage level as well as their loss.
Martin says they’ve already paid out on several applications for WHIP Plus assistance.
Martin says although WHIP Plus won’t make farmers whole, it at least gives them some aid to help get through their economic challenges.
