Tuesday, a U.S. Appeals Court denied an attempt to keep E 15 from reaching consumers. The U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia found that the American Petroleum Institute and Engines Product Group did not have standing in the case. Growth Energy CEO Tom Buis says the court decision knocks out another hurdle put up by oil and anti ethanol groups to keep consumers from having a choice at the pump.
The Court also said that API and the Engines Product Group could not show their members have suffered or are threatened with suffering a relevant injury due to E 15. Buis says E 15 has been thoroughly tested and found to cause no engine failures or other problems and the Court upheld that.
Buis says NASCAR has competed on the track for 7 million miles using E 15 fuel. He says this week’s ruling is important because it continues to uphold the choice and savings for American motorists with E 15.
