Another attempt is being made in the legislature to expand Medicaid in Nebraska.
Supporters say they will tie expansion to reform of Medicaid, a state-federal partnership to provide health insurance for the poor. The new bill would expand Medicaid to child-less adults making up to 138-percent of the federal poverty level as well as families with children who make less than a thousand dollars a month.
State Senator Colby Coash of Lincoln says the measure is certain to face a filibuster from opponents. . .
Medicaid expansion, at present, would be paid for by the federal government as part of the federal health care law. The state would have to pay 10 percent of the cost later.
Supporters the past couple of sessions have not been able to muster the votes to end a filibuster and force a vote on the issue.
