Animal Agriculture Alliance Cautions Producers About Activist Group

The Animal Agriculture Alliance is advising farmers and ranchers to increase security on their operations. That’s in light of recent actions taken by the Direct Action Everywhere Activist Group. Hannah Thompson Weeman with the Animal Agriculture Alliance says Direct Action Everywhere members are taking extreme steps to see that animals have the same rights as humans and have been breaking into egg farms in California.

She says the Direct Action Everywhere members are becoming a huge biosecurity risk.

Weeman says farmers and ranchers need to heighten their overall security on their operations and keep in close contact with local law enforcement to protect themselves from these activists.

Weeman says while Direct Action Everywhere has members throughout the country they’ve been focusing most of their efforts on the West and East Coasts so far.
