AMI Counsel Expects COOL Decision Anytime

AMI Counsel Expects COOL Decision Anytime

One of the lawyers representing groups in a lawsuit challenging the Country of Origin Labeling rule believe a decision in the case will come any day.  American Meat Institute’s General Counsel Mark Dopp says to state a decision will come soon is only guessing. He says it could happen any time but it’s difficult to say specifically when.

Dopp says he thinks AMI and groups challenging COOL have a good and solid case but admits it may be a tough one to win.

AMI and other groups had sought a pre liminary injunction to stop the rewritten COOL rule from going forward but that was denied at the circuit level so they’re in the appeals process.
