The Chief Ag Trade Negotiator in the U.S. Trade Representative’s office says China needs to change its farm policy. Gregg Doud says a large supply of the world’s commodities is sitting in China., a country that doesn’t follow a free market policy.

He says by following a non free market policy, China is causing high costs for other country’s agricultural economies.

Doud says when governments control the supply side of agriculture it leads to huge problems.

Doud says China hasn’t disclosed to the World Trade Organization the level of domestic supports they’ve given their farmers since 2010. He says trade talks with China and all countries must center around domestic support and market access, dealt with together, not apart.
