American Soybean Association leaders met in Washington D.C. last week and voted to move forward on three major policy priorities including trade, biodiesel and biotech labeling. ASA Board member and Nebraska grower Jim Miller they’re pushing Congress to approve the biodiesel tax credit this year with some important changes.

Miller says ASA was pleased the House approved the Senate’s biotech labeling bill. He says blocking state laws with a federal standard was critical.

Miller says to expand trade they’re pushing for approval of the Trans Pacific Partnership. He says U.S. agriculture stands to gain a lot from the pact.

He says Mexico has a trade advantage on the U.S. with 43 trade agreements, verses just 14 for the U.S.
