American Soybean Association President Reacts to House Farm Bill Draft

The reaction from farm groups to the House Ag Committee’s farm bill draft released last week varies. American Soybean Association President John Heisdorffer says he’s pleased with parts of the bill, including funding for the USDA for both the Foreign Market Development and Market Access Programs.

However, he is concerned about the lack of bi-partisan support for the measure from the House Ag Committee moving forward.

Heisdorffer says they’re pleased the House has released their draft and are hoping the Senate can now move quickly to get the farm bill done and conferenced for passage before expiration of the existing law.

Heisdorffer says the final farm bill language must include a solid crop insurance program.
