American Soybean Association Hopeful SCOTUS Will Clarify Ag Exemptions Under WOTUS

The American Soybean Association is pleased the Supreme Court will be hearing a case that could finally determine the definition of Waters of the United States.  Last week the high court announced they would be hearing the case this spring and ASA Chairman Kevin Scott says that is good news and will hopefully stop EPA from rewriting the WOTUS language.

He says its important that the WOTUS rule include agricultural exemptions, which currently are not included in EPA’s proposed language.

Scott says they are fearful that without a favorable ruling from the Supreme Court the EPA will finalize a rule that represents more regulatory red tape.

He says overregulation of agriculture is costly for farmers and ranchers and he expects various farm groups to sign on with support for the case.
