American Soybean Association Gets Update on Glyphosate Supply from Bayer

The American Soybean Association has continued their discussions with Bayer Crop Science to determine what the supply of glyphosate or Roundup will be for the 2022 growing season.  This comes after the company recently declared a force majeure event due to a mechanical failure at one of their main suppliers.  ASA CEO Steve Censky says they have assurances U.S. farmers will have adequate supplies of the common herbicide.

They have also learned Bayer has located another source for glyphosate, but they aren’t sure what percentage of the needed supplies that will cover.

In the meantime, Censky says Bayer is also providing assurances that all farmers will receive supplies equally regardless of location.

However, he says they are still bracing for much higher prices for Roundup and other chemistries for 2022.
