American Sheep Industry Association members recently completed their 174th. Convention. ASI Executive Director Peter Orwick says a major focus for their group in 2019 is the “fake meat” or lab grown meat issue, as their Board of Directors set policy supporting regulation by both USDA and FDA.

He says on the export front, their most important markets are for wool and sheepskin.

Orwick says their most profitable export sales have been wool.

Orwick says their members met with U.S. Army officials who’ve returned to using U.S. wool in their uniforms, including socks.
