The American Petroleum Institute is weighing in on EPA’s Renewable Fuel Standard volume obligations released Friday. They cover ethanol for 2014 through 2016 and go through 2017 for biodiesel. API’s Bob Greco says the agency made the proper decision by lowering the mandates from the statutory levels and agreeing with the blend wall theory.

Greco says API does have some concerns going forward however.  He says the fact EPA is so far behind with issuing these mandates proves the system is broken and his group will continue to work with Congress to repair or get rid of the RFS.

Greco says API will be submitting comments on the proposals which are due June 27.
