American Petroleum Institute officials say the Environmental Protection Agency did the proper thing by lowering the mandated ethanol volumes. API’s Bob Greco says, however, the agency should have gone even farther.

Greco says the EPA decided to push through the blend wall with their decision by setting the targets at 13.61 billion gallons for 2014, 14.05 billion gallons for 2015 and 14.5 billion gallons for 2016.

He says API is studying the ruling and considering their options moving forward.
