American Farm Bureau delegates re-elected their President Zippy Duval and their Vice President Scott VanderWal to two year terms at their annual meeting this week. VanderWal who also serves as South Dakota’s Farm Bureau President says they also adopted their policies. He says one they’ll be working hard on is trying to get meaningful ag labor legislation approved as well as ask for reasonable regulatory reform.

He says there are several changes that need to be changed to current ag labor legislation under consideration in Congress.

VanderWal says their members also want those allowed to legally grow hemp have to have 1 percent THC in the cannabis before growing it. He says they also want hemp testing done within 45 days of harvest and hemp crops to be destroyed if their THC level is at .5 percent.

VanderWal says their 101st annual meeting was very successful as delegates heard from President Donald Trump who talked to them about recent trade successes such as the signing of the phase one deal with China and Congressional passage of the USMCA trade pact.
