Monday, the Nebraska Public Service Commission on a 3 to 2 vote approved an alternative route for Trans Canada’s Keystone XL oil pipeline. Omaha Attorney Brian Jorde who represents landowners opposing the pipeline says he’s pleased the panel turned down the proposed route.
He considers it a 60-percent victory for landowners impacted by the project. However, he still has 40-percent of his landowner clients effected by the alternate route.
Jorde says there are still issues surrounding the new plan.
Should pipeline opponents appeal the Commission’s decision it could eventually end up in the Nebraska Supreme Court.
