The Food and Agriculture Climate Alliance has offered recommendations to the USDA regarding a potential carbon bank. The National Council of Farmer Cooperatives is an alliance member. President and CEO Chuck Conner says they’re advising the Ag Department to move in a methodical and thoughtful way with this carbon bank.

He says they’re advising the USDA first develop a series of pilot projects with the carbon bank.

Conner says any carbon bank program must provide equitable opportunities for farmers and ranchers.

Conner says its critical USDA be involved in the carbon bank development because they’re in the best position to work with and understand producers.
