Alliance Calls For Gold Standard In TPP

Photo: WNAX

At their recent annual meeting the Five Nation Beef Alliance called for all TPP nations to back ‘’gold standard outcomes”. National Cattlemen Beef Association’s Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall says the U.S. and other members of that alliance believe that standard is necessary for a successful free trade agreement.
Woodall says US Trade Representative Michael Froman is pushing to get the TPP deal done yet this year.
Besides the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand make up the Alliance. Those countries all agree that tariffs need to be eliminated and that there’s a fair and level playing field for beef trade between all TPP nations.
