The U-Senate has confirmed the nomination of Alexis Taylor as the Under Secretary of Agriculture for Foreign Affairs and many farm and commodity organizations are praising the efforts of the U-S Senate.  The American Soybean Association, National Corn Growers Association, U-S Feed Grains Council, International Dairy Foods Association, U-S Meat Export Federation, National Cattlemens’s Beef Association, National Milk Producers Federation, and the National Pork Producers Council all had positive praises for Taylor’s confirmation saying her knowledge and experience are welcome and will serve agriculture well.  U-S Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa spoke highly of Taylor during the confirmation hearing held this past summer.  Following the confirmation, Ernst stated she is glad to see Alexis Taylor confirmed to serve as Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Affairs ensuring agricultural trade is a priority.  Ernst says the success of the Iowa ag community and our state’s economy depends on it.  However, as of yet, Doug McKalib’s nomination as the Chief Agriculture Negotiator for the U-S Trade Representative’s office has not been brought up for a full senate vote.
