Last week’s heavy rains in Northwest Iowa were beneficial for the row crops. That’s according to Iowa State University Extension Agronomist Joel De Jong. He says conditions had been very dry in the furthest Northwest counties of the state.
De Jong says the soybeans especially had been dry and the corn needed moisture as well.
He says conditions are looking so good now there could be some records set for the corn once harvest hits.
De Jong says the potential is there for a good soybean crop as well, although there are signs of white mold starting to show up.
