Recent rains have left some Northwest Iowa farmers hoping for a record crop. However, some disease threats have popped up. Iowa State University Extension Agronomist Joel De Jong says one of those is in the soybeans.
De Jong also recommends scouting the corn as there are disease threats there as well.
De Jong says gosses wilt can be difficult to manage because it’s a bacterial rather than a fungal disease so fungicides don’t work on it. He says growers will have to battle it with their hybrid selections.
