Agrium Incorporated of Canada is purchasing 18 retail crop dealerships from Cargill. The outlets are in six states including South Dakota, Nebraska and Minnesota. Agrium Vice President Richard Downey says they’ve been wanting to expand their presence in South Dakota and surrounding states for some time.
He says farmers won’t see any major changes with these new U.S. outlets being integrated into their company.
Downey says with the acquisition they’ll be able to offer a larger variety of products and services in their new U.S. facilities.
Downey says Agrium already has 800 farm centers in the United States and these 18 new outlets will enhance that. Regulatory approval is expected sometime in the third quarter of this year.
