An analysis done by the Nebraska Farm Bureau shows that potential losses from the COVID 19 pandemic to agriculture in the state could reach $3.7 billion. Farm Bureau’s Senior Economist Jay Rempe says they’ve come up with a snapshot of what could happen going forward if those effects continue.

He says when you add losses the ethanol industry has experienced it gets that figure up to the $3.7 billion.

Rempe says that $3.7 billion represents more than 80 percent of the state’s entire budget.

Rempe says they’re hopeful conditions will improve and those losses won’t eventually reach that level.
