The National Council of Farmer Cooperatives which is part of the National Foreign Trade Council wants the Biden administration to roll back the Section 232 and 301 steel and aluminum tariffs. While those tariffs aren’t expected to be addressed until Phase two of the U.S. China trade deal, the NFTC says those tariffs are causing substantial harm to U.S. businesses and agriculture. NCFC President and CEO Chuck Conner says the U.S. shouldn’t totally depend on China as a trading partner but should seek all trade possibilities.

He doesn’t expect any movement on their tariff removal request anyway as the Biden administration hasn’t made trade it’s number one priority but is more interested in address climate change and getting a second infrastructure bill moving.

Conner does expect a different approach to trade however with the Biden administration than was seen during Donald Trump’s time in office.

Joining NCFC in the National Foreign Trade Council is the National Pork Producers Council, and Farmers for Free Trade as well as some others in the agriculture sector.
