The Corn Refiners Association along with over 130 other food and agriculture groups have written President Trump asking him to retain gains made from the North American Free Trade Agreement. The Trump administration wants to redo NAFTA and Corn Refiners CEO John Bode says there is an opportunity to improve on the pact and they look forward to working with the President on that.
He says agriculture is a key part of NAFTA and represents the most amount of manufacturing jobs in the U.S economy.
Bode is hoping the President takes the ag group’s concerns seriously over NAFTA because it was their members along with farmers and ranchers that helped get him elected.
The groups noted in their letter to the President that growth attributed to NAFTA has resulted in over $150 billion worth of exports which created $423 billion in U.S. economic activity in 2015.
