National Biodiesel Board members along with several ag groups have written to members of Congress asking them to take action on bipartisan legislation to extend the biodiesel tax incentive. The measures under consideration in Congress calls for a two year extension covering 2018 and 2019. Paul Winters with the National Biodiesel Board says it’s been 17 months since the credit expired and biodiesel producers are suffering economically as a result.

He says backing for the renewal has been growing and for the first time several organizations have come together calling for that.

Winters says when the biodiesel tax incentive is in place it has multiple benefits.

Winters says some Senators are working on a long term solution to the biodiesel tax incentive and eventually that’s what his group would like to see.
