Agriculture and transportation officials are hoping President Trump follows through with his massive infrastructure improvement plan. The President said he’d propose a plan that could total up to $1 trillion. However, the American Society of Civil Engineers estimates the cost of improving the transportation system is $3.6 trillion. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek says that number is unrealistic.

He’s hoping the President understands the need to make sure agriculture’s needs are met with any infrastructure improvement plan.

Waterways Council Senior Vice President Deb Calhoun says the toughest part of any infrastructure package is figuring out how to pay for it.

The Transportation and Infrastructure Committees in both the U.S. House and Senate are preparing for a busy year as more details of the infrastructure improvement plan are rolled out.
