AG Processing Incorporated (A-G-P) is supporting the Iowa Biofuels Standard, a state legislative initiative that’s being considered by Iowa Lawmakers. The measure would incentivize the higher blending of both biodiesel and ethanol. Matt Caswell , Vice President of Member/Corporate Relations and Government Affairs for A-G-P says this measure will increase demand for soybeans.

He says there will be multiple benefits for all of Iowa in the form of jobs and a cleaner environment should legislators approve this bill.

Caswell says having this kind of a state policy that calls for expanding to 20 percent biodiesel blends or B-20 will have both short term and long term benefits and help the ag industry recover from the negative impacts of the pandemic.

The legislation which has been introduced as House Study Bill 185 creates a state program that would establish biofuel standards for fuel sold in Iowa and provide tax credits and infrastructure support to biofuel blenders and retailers.
