The people that produce food helped to serve those in need at the Farmers Serving Families event yesterday at the Banquet in Sioux Falls. Through Ag United farmers and agribusiness professionals teamed up to prepare and serve the meal. Dave Poppens is a farmer from Lennox and serves on the South Dakota Soybean Association board. He has served at the Banquet several times and feels it’s a great way for agriculture to give back.

Janelle Atyeo with the Tri-State Neighbor says it is a humbling experience to work at the Banquet as someone who reports on farming and food production.

Paul Kosboth with the South Dakota Department of Agriculture says farmers are in the business of feeding people and the event is just another opportunity to do that.

More than 350 people in Sioux Falls generally partake in the evening meals at the Banquet.
