U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says the China Phase One trade deal and CFAP Two are both moving forward. He says U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Chinese trade officials held their six- month review on Tuesday. Both sides noted progress and are committed to ensuring the success of the agreement. Perdue says while he’s encouraged, the Chinese have more work to do.

Perdue says USDA is also preparing the CFAP Two program with payments going out by the first of September under a new payment formula.

However, he says the biofuels industry is unlikely to receive any assistance from the program.

Congress also went on recess without passing another round of COVID relief. The House bill allocates $30 billion for agriculture, with the Senate at $20 billion. Perdue is expecting a compromise in the middle.

Secretary Perdue was a guest on WNAX Ag Week.
