Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says coming up with a compromise on dairy policy is key in getting the farm bill through the conference committee.  He says lawmakers need to craft legislation that mitigates the risk and volatility in the dairy business.

However, he says that system must also be fiscally responsible to satisfy Speaker Boehner.

American Farm Bureau President Bob Stallman says they’re opposed to mandatory supply management, but they can support a voluntary production program.

Stallman is optimistic the committee will be able to work out their differences.
