Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue offered some hope for struggling farmers while visiting South Dakota last week. South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott VanderWal says he asked the Secretary what assurances he could give farmers who will likely have problems with loan re-negotiations this coming year due to low prices and the trade war.

He says Perdue told the group there will more trade aid for farmers in the form of another Market Facilitation Program payment.

VanderWal says Perdue is continually talking to the President about the impact the trade war is having on farmers and the need to support them.

VanderWal says even though Perdue wasn’t directly involved in the E15 year-round sales issue, he did give assurances the rule making at the EPA will go forward and it will be ready for the 2019 summer driving season.
