Ag Retailers Concerned With OSHA Stance On PSM Exemption

The Agricultural Retailers Association and many farmers are concerned the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is by passing Congressional intent regarding the Process Safety Management regulations. ARA President and CEO Darren Coppock says OSHA is changing the rules by letting the PSM exemption given to ag retailers run out starting October 1.

He says OSHA is making several mistakes with their PSM regulation that needs to be corrected.

Coppock says without the PSM exemption the cost to the Ag retailing industry becomes astronomical and may lead to several retailers going out of business.

Coppock says the costs get passed down to farmers who will either have to go longer distances to get their anhydrous ammonia or not be able to get it at all.
