The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has given livestock and ag product haulers another 90-day waiver from the Electronic Logging Device rules. The new deadline is June 18. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association President Kevin Kester is pleased with the decision as they needed more time to work with government officials to develop a workable solution.

He says federal officials, including the Transportation Secretary, are listening to the concerns of livestock producers on the ELD rules and that’s part of the reason they were granted the second exemption.

Kester says it’s critical middle ground is reached on the hours of service requirement to ensure the safety of drivers and animals.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will also public final guidance on the 150 air-mile hours-of-service exemption.
