Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer’s Internet of Things technology for precision agriculture bill has passed out of the Senate Commerce Committee. Nebraska Corn Grower’s Association Executive Director Kelly Brunkhorst says that’s an important measure to help farmers be more efficient and effective with their operations in growing the crop and getting it out to consumers.

He says his group’s members have been on the forefront for years in adopting new technologies and Fischer’s legislation gives them even more opportunities going forward.

Brunkhorst says having the most up to date technologies at their disposal gives corn growers a leg up in improving their economic situation as well as helps them improve their environmental footprint.

A major part of Fischer’s legislation supports research on advanced sensing systems for rural and agricultural areas.
