A coalition of ag groups has been working with a South Dakota Legislative task force on property taxes.
The committee has been watching the changes since the state moved to a productivity model for ag land valuations and taxes.

Brenda Forman with the South Dakota Association of Cooperatives says many of the questions center on the actual use of ag land.

Forman says the expect their conversations with the task force to continue through next year.

Forman says much of the concern over valuations and taxes is in conversion of grass land to crop land.

Previously, ag land taxes were based on the sales prices of comparable pieces of land.
