Ag Groups Urge Quick Approval of Trans Pacific Partnership

A coalition of U.S. agricultural groups, including the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, is urging Congress to move quickly to approve the Trans Pacific Partnership trade deal. NCBA Vice President Kevin says he thinks Congress can overcome election year politics and get TPP passed yet this year.

He says without TPP, Australia will continue to capture a larger share of the Japanese beef market.

Kester says failure to ratify TPP will also cause the U.S. to lose beef export market share to other countries.

Kester and other NCBA members are in the nation’s capital this week meeting with members of Congress to talk to them about TPP and other important ag issues.
