Most of the agricultural groups in South Dakota are backing Governor’s Kristi Noem’s Ag Development legislation. That measure is set to be heard Wednesday by the Senate State Affairs Committee. South Dakota Pork Producers Council President Craig Andersen says it’s a very important measure that impacts any business needing a conditional use permit at the county level.
He says the legislation still provides for local control which some opponents to the bill have voiced concern about losing if the measure is enacted.
Andersen says his group will be presenting testimony at the hearing in favor of the bill.
Andersen encourages all producers to let their Senators and Representatives know how important this legislation is and to support it when it comes up for a vote.
